In this guide we walk you through every step of starting a clothing brand with a manufacturer in Turkey: what to prepare, how fabric, samples and minimums work, what to budget for, how long it takes and how your order gets to you. Starting a clothing brand in Turkey at a glance

Turkey is known worldwide for its textiles, especially cotton and knitwear. From jersey t-shirts and fleece hoodies to woven shirts and denim, Turkish manufacturers work with modern equipment and have decades of experience producing for international brands.
Small quantities for new brands

Turkey sits between Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, so shipping is fast and lead times are shorter than from Asia. Garments made in Turkey can also enter the EU without customs duty with an A.TR certificate.
Private label and customization
You can have your garments made to your own design with your own labels, hang tags and packaging, and add screen or digital printing, embroidery, garment washes or patches.
Step-by-step: how to start your clothing brand with a Turkish manufacturer
Step 1: Define your brand and first collection
Decide what you want to sell, who it is for and at what price: casual wear, streetwear, sportswear, business attire or modest fashion. Starting with a few core styles, such as a t-shirt, a hoodie and a pair of pants, keeps your first investment manageable and shows you quickly what sells.
Step 2: Prepare a tech pack for each style
A tech pack is the blueprint of your garment: technical sketches, fabric, size chart, artwork, trims, labels and packaging. It makes your samples and quotes accurate. If you're not ready for that, photos of reference garments and a short description are a good start, and we can help you turn them into a tech pack.
Step 3: Choose your fabric
Fabric decides how your garment looks and feels, and a large part of what it costs. Tell your manufacturer the composition, weight and finish you want, or send a garment whose fabric you like. If the fabric is in stock at a supplier, minimums stay low. A fabric that has to be made or dyed specially for you, for example in an exact Pantone color, needs much larger quantities: usually at least 200 kg per color for knitted fabrics and 500 to 750 meters per color for woven fabrics.
Need certified fabrics? OEKO-TEX certified fabrics are usually available from stock. GOTS certified organic fabrics are not always in stock and may have to be made specially.
Step 4: Contact a manufacturer
Send your tech pack together with the quantity per style and color, your target date and your delivery country. The more complete your request, the faster and more accurate the answer. Step 5: Make a pattern and a sample
Always approve a sample before placing a bulk order, so you can check the fit, fabric and workmanship. The pattern maker creates a digital pattern from your tech pack and grades it to all your sizes, and the sample is sewn in the fabric you choose. With us, pattern making and sampling take around 2 weeks on average, depending on the style.
Samples are paid. If you go ahead with production, the sample cost is deducted from your order. The patterns made for your designs belong to you, and we can deliver them as DXF files.
Step 6: Agree on quantity, price and delivery date
Ask for the minimum order quantity per style and per color, and make sure you understand every cost: fabric, trims, printing, labels and packaging. Smaller quantities mean a higher price per piece. When we plan your production, you receive a quote with the price, payment terms and delivery date, so you know everything before production starts.
Step 7: Production and quality control
Once the sample and the quote are approved, production begins. It usually takes 2–4 weeks after sample approval, depending on quantity and the production schedule at the time. Quality is checked at every stage, and your labels, hang tags and packaging are added so your products arrive retail-ready.
Step 8: Shipping and delivery
Choose a shipping option that fits your speed and budget: express courier takes a few days and suits samples and small orders, road freight is common within Europe, and sea freight takes a few weeks but costs the least for large volumes. We work EXW (ex works Istanbul) and ship with the option you prefer.
How long does it take to start a clothing brand in Turkey?
For one style in a stock fabric, a realistic plan looks like this:
- Tech pack: a first draft in about 10 minutes with the AI assistant in our free builder, or a few days if you draw it yourself.
- Pattern making and sample: around 2 weeks on average.
- Checking the sample and any changes: depends on how many rounds you need.
- Production: usually 2–4 weeks after sample approval.
- Shipping: from a few days by express courier to a few weeks by sea.
So from a finished tech pack to your first delivery, plan for around two months, and a little longer if you need several sample rounds or a specially made fabric.
How much does it cost to start a clothing brand?
There is no fixed price, because the cost depends on the fabric, the design, the quantity and any printing or embroidery. When you plan your budget, include:
- Samples: each sample that is sewn is paid. With us, the sample cost is deducted from your order if you go ahead with production.
- Production: unit prices are higher for small runs and go down as your quantities grow.
- Fabric: stock fabrics keep costs and minimums low; custom-made or custom-dyed fabrics need large quantities.
- Branding: labels, hang tags and packaging. Trims made with your logo, such as branded zippers or buttons, usually start at around 1,000 pieces, so plan them early.
- Shipping and import: with EXW terms, shipping (including for samples) and bank transfer fees are paid by you, as are any import duties or taxes in your country.
- Launch: your website, product photos and marketing need a budget too.
